After painting the view of our village, we set off the following week into the surrounding countryside and this ‘Live in Lockdown’ shows a local mazet set up on a rocky outcrop.  At the time of writing (April 2021) France was pretty much locked down with a 7.00pm curfew and a limited  travel range of 10 kms radius from our house.

We had hoped to be able to do a live from down on the Spanish border at the beautiful coastal resort of Collioure. It will happen – soon! Stay up to date with regular updates on our Facebook page

If you’d like to have a go at painting the scene, here’s a photograph of the scene and a pencil sketch to get you started. Click here to go through to video showing you how it was done. Apologies in advance for the occasional sound break up. You’ll also find a wide range of tutorials on our YouTube playlist.

Here’s the 2B pencil sketch I did before starting painting. The paper is 420gsm Saunders Waterford Rough watercolour paper. And the colours I used were these: Cerulean Blue, Tropical Pthalo blue, Naples Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Burnt sienna and Burnt Umber, Sap Green and Hooker’s Green, Magenta and Payne’s Grey.

Get in touch if you have any questions. Have fun and keep painting!
